A New Space for Creativity

Over the past year, one of the biggest areas of growth for me has been video editing. What started as simply learning the basics of cutting clips together has slowly turned into something I am genuinely passionate about. Through projects at college, serving at church, and spending time practicing on my own, I have been able to grow not only in technical skill but also in creativity and confidence. Editing has become more than just putting videos together and it has become a way for me to tell stories, create emotion, and communicate ideas visually.

At college, I have had the opportunity to learn more about the creative process behind video production. From understanding pacing and transitions to learning how music, color grading, and sound design affect a video, I have started to see editing differently. Every project teaches me something new. Some projects push me creatively, while others challenge me technically, but each one helps me improve. Looking back at videos I created when I first started compared to the work I make now, I can clearly see the progress. I have become more comfortable using editing software, organizing footage, building sequences, and creating content that feels polished and intentional.

One thing that has really helped me grow is having opportunities to create real projects instead of only practicing in class. Serving at Valley Creek Church has allowed me to apply what I am learning in real environments. Whether I am editing worship videos, event recaps, or social media content, I have learned how important it is to create videos that connect with people emotionally. It has taught me how to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and think creatively while still staying focused on the message behind the content.

What makes this season even more exciting is the future that is being built for students like me. My church and college are currently building a new facility, and one of the things I am most excited about is the studio space that will be included for film production and editing. Knowing there will be a dedicated creative environment designed for students who are passionate about media, film, photography, and editing is incredibly inspiring to me. It feels like a huge opportunity not only for my own growth but also for so many other creative students who want to learn and improve their skills.

The idea of having access to a professional studio environment motivates me even more to continue learning now. A space specifically designed for filming and editing will open so many possibilities for creativity. It will allow students to collaborate, create better projects, experiment with new ideas, and gain hands-on experience in a professional setting. I think it will also help students prepare for future careers in media, production, and creative industries because we will be able to work in an environment that reflects real-world experiences.

For me personally, this new building represents more than just new equipment or classrooms. It represents growth, opportunity, and the future of creativity within both my church and college community. It shows that creativity and storytelling matter and that there is value in investing in students who are passionate about media and production. As I continue growing in video editing, I am excited to keep learning, improving, and discovering my creative style. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I am thankful for every opportunity I have already been given. Between college, serving at Valley Creek, and the future opportunities that will come with the new studio space, I feel incredibly encouraged about where my creative journey is heading.
